The admissions system (NyA)
NyA is a system that is used for admissions to higher education in Sweden. You can apply to courses and programmes at almost all Swedish higher education institutions (HEIs) via the website Antagning.se/Universityadmissions.se.
The system retrieves upper-secondary school grades and higher education qualifications from Beda, the national grades database, and from the various HEIs. Admissions officers at the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) and at the HEIs review, register and evaluate the applicants’ qualifications.
The system can also automatically evaluate eligibility and calculate a merit rating using eligibility models and models for assessing qualifications that are in the system. When all applicants have been evaluated, qualified applicants are admitted or placed on a waiting list and unqualified applicants are rejected. Admissions, being placed on a waiting list and rejection take place in two automatic selections. Applicants who are admitted or placed on a waiting list are then sent to the Ladok system at the relevant HEIs.
